TALA BISTRO - PARAMETRIC ACOUSTIC CEILING

Retrofitting acoustic absorption into existing spaces is a challenge for multiple reasons, including avoiding interference with lighting, mechanical, and sprinkler systems.

Restaurants tend to have a strong visual aesthetic as well, and the addition of sufficient amounts of acoustic absorption has an unavoidable visual impact.

For Tala Bistro, these challenges were met with a custom parametric design that adapted to existing systems, and provided an undulating blade-like structure to utilize the entire ceiling. Note how the pattern is cut away near sprinklers, lights, and air ducts. Each acoustic blade was measured, cut, and installed by hand.
